The search is on for Gauteng’s brightest sparks in this year’s Dis-Chem Brain of 702.

This annual competition gives armchair experts the chance to cash in and show off their general knowledge, both on-air and in front of a live audience at the weekly mall activations.

Launching on air on Monday 30 January 2017, the Dis-Chem Brain of 702will run over four weeks, with a mall activation open to the public in each region, every Saturday.

This year the mall activations will take place at Eastgate Shopping Centre, Maponya Mall, Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, and the Mall of Africa.

The mechanics of the competition are simple: The first two contestants are pitted against each other on the breakfast show to answer the most, correct general knowledge questions in 60 seconds. The winner takes home R1 000and goes through to the next round in the following show. By the end of the day, the last contestant standing is named the Brain of the Dayand can claim another R1 000 Dis-Chem voucherif he or she can answer a bonus Dis-Chem question.

The Dis-Chem Brains of the Dayfrom Monday to Friday gather at a shopping centre on Saturday. From these finalists from 702and one winner each week earns an additional R5 000and goes forward into the semi-final which will be held on Saturday 25 February.

The semi-final will determine the Dis-Chem Brain of 702and they will pocket a cool R15 000before facing off against the Brain of CapeTalk in a head to head battle on the stations’ breakfast shows on Monday, 27 February. The winner of this on-air contest will be named The Dis-Chem Brain of Brainsand win an additional R20 000.

Followers of the Brain of 702are encouraged to get to the mall activations to experience the nerve-wracking excitement of the live quiz shows ably hosted and judged by 702presenters.

There will also be an opportunity to be quizzed by a presenter on a series of fun questions to stand in line to win spot prizes.
